Our fall 2026 worship service theme proposes an in-depth study of the Lord’s words in Matthew 25: 35-40. Jesus said, "I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink . . ." In a literal sense, the Lord is calling us to take care of the physical needs of our neighbors. But what do these statements mean on a deeper level? We may not know a person who is incarcerated, but surely we know people who are imprisoned in other ways. Such is the case for all of the states described in these Bible verses. As we progress from one story to the next, we will use material from the New Church Journey Program, “What Would Love Do?" to apply these teachings and foster a deeper love for the people around us.
